Celesto vs Tenki CI

Keep GitHub Actions and dependency caching. Celesto costs 87.5% less per minute on the matching 2 vCPU · 4 GB Linux runner: $0.0005 versus $0.004. That's 8× the runtime for the same budget, before credits. Equal CPU and RAM do not mean equal job speed.

List runtime prices before free allowances or credits, at equal runtime on both. Celesto includes $5 in one-time credits. Tenki Starter lists $100 in one-time credits; Team lists $200/month with $100 in monthly credits. Cache storage and plan fees are excluded here. Only the exact 2 vCPU / 4 GB match is shown; larger published sizes have different RAM allocations.

Move Linux CI to Celesto and keep your existing cache steps.

Choose Celesto if

  • You want 8× the Linux runner minutes per dollar on the matched size
  • Your jobs use actions/cache or setup-node/setup-python caching
  • You want up to 25 GB of cache per repository without a storage charge
  • Your coding agents also need Celesto sandboxes, CDP browsers, and MCP tools

Stay on Tenki CI if

  • Your workflow needs macOS or container jobs
  • You rely on dependency mirrors or persistent sticky disks
  • Your initial workload fits within Tenki's larger one-time credit

Switch in one line.

Install the GitHub App, then swap the runner label. Your steps, caches, and logs stay in GitHub Actions.

Questions.

Yes on the matched Linux runner's list rate: $0.0005/minute versus $0.004/minute for 2 vCPU and 4 GB. That is 87.5% less at equal runtime, before credits and storage. A lower rate does not prove lower cost per completed job; measure your workflow on both.

Yes. Celesto serves actions/cache and the cache options in setup-node, setup-python, and similar actions without changing your cache steps. Cache storage is included up to 25 GB per repository. Docker layer caching is not available.

The published catalogs overlap exactly at 2 vCPU and 4 GB. Tenki's larger x64 sizes have 2 GB of RAM per vCPU; Celesto Large and XL have 4 GB per vCPU. We do not present these as identical configurations. Disk capacity and CPU performance can also differ.

Install the Celesto CI GitHub App and complete setup, then replace runs-on: tenki-standard-small-2c-4g with runs-on: [self-hosted, celesto-standard]. Keep your existing supported Linux steps and cache configuration. Keep macOS and container jobs on a provider that supports them.

We have not published a Celesto-versus-Tenki benchmark. This page compares list runtime rates, not build speed. Run a representative workflow with both cold and warm caches before estimating completed-job savings.

Start with $5 in credits. Rerun your slowest workflow.
