Celesto CI / Compare

Celesto vs Bitrise Build Hub

Put everyday Linux jobs on Celesto's low runtime rates without a monthly runner plan. Keep Bitrise Build Hub for Apple silicon, mobile toolchains, and the Mac capacity your release pipeline needs. Both keep GitHub Actions as your orchestrator.

Low-cost Linux CI without committing to a monthly Mac/Linux budget.

Celesto Standard provides 2 vCPU and 4 GB for $0.0005/minute, with no monthly CI subscription. Bitrise's September 2026 Build Hub launch announcement lists Basic from $15/month and Pro from $210/month, with an included compute budget shared between Mac and Linux. Current indexed pricing also advertises annual discounts. Compare the tier, included capacity, overage availability, and actual machine requirements before buying. We do not apply Bitrise Mobile DevOps Platform minute rates to Build Hub or treat a monthly budget as a pure runner-minute fee. Celesto's Linux x64 runners do not replace macOS or Xcode jobs.

Build Hub uses a monthly tier with a shared macOS/Linux compute budget; its Mobile DevOps Platform pricing is a separate product. CPU count and memory alone do not establish equal hardware performance, network speed, or completed-job cost.

Keep GitHub Actions and pay for the Linux runtime you use.

Choose Celesto when

  • Most jobs are Linux builds, tests, or checks that fit within 8 vCPU and 32 GB
  • You want low runtime rates without reserving a monthly CI budget
  • Your agent-generated pull requests create variable Linux CI demand
  • You want to retain compatible dependency-cache steps in GitHub Actions

Choose Bitrise Build Hub when

  • You build iOS or macOS software and need Apple silicon or Xcode
  • You want managed mobile toolchains and dedicated capacity options
  • Your jobs need larger Linux shapes, mobile build caches, or private placement
  • You consistently use a combined Mac/Linux compute budget

Keep GitHub Actions. Move compatible Linux jobs.

Install Celesto’s GitHub App, link a workspace, and fund a paid runner size. This example selects Standard, 2 vCPU and 4 GB, at $0.0005/minute. Port provider-specific caches, custom images, or pipeline syntax before migrating. The Micro-only trial starts with $5 shared credit, expires after 30 days, and allows one retained sandbox at a time.

1jobs:
2 test:
3 runs-on: [self-hosted, celesto-standard]
4 steps:
5 - uses: actions/checkout@v4
6 - run: npm ci && npm test

Celesto bills computer runtime including preparation and cleanup. Linux x64 only; a two-hour safety limit applies. Concurrency depends on workspace limits, credit, and capacity.

Questions before you switch

Can Celesto replace Bitrise Build Hub for iOS builds?

No. Celesto CI currently supports Linux x64, not macOS or Xcode. Keep iOS jobs on a Mac provider. GitHub selects a runner per job, so compatible Linux checks can move to Celesto while Mac jobs stay on Build Hub.

Is Build Hub the same product as Bitrise CI?

No. Build Hub supplies execution infrastructure for existing GitHub Actions workflows. Bitrise's Mobile DevOps Platform includes its own CI and release tooling. Their plan allowances and published machine prices should not be mixed when estimating a Build Hub bill.

Why is there no exact savings multiplier?

Build Hub packages compute into monthly tiers shared between Mac and Linux, with capacity and machine access depending on the tier. Its official pricing pages expose different product sections and indexed versions. We have not verified a single all-in Build Hub minute tariff suitable for a numeric head-to-head. Compare a current quote, actual plan utilization, and complete workflow duration against Celesto's runtime rate.

Is Celesto faster than Bitrise Build Hub?

We have not published a matched benchmark against Build Hub. Bitrise publishes results for its own hardware and mobile workloads, but those do not measure Celesto. CPU count, memory, toolchains and cache behavior can differ; measure your actual Linux workflow before projecting completed-job savings.

Can I migrate an Android workflow directly?

Validate its dependencies and execution requirements first. Celesto's image includes common Linux tools, Docker Engine, Buildx and Compose, but it does not promise Bitrise's Android toolchain or emulator environment. Install needed SDKs in the workflow and verify compatibility before moving a release-critical job.

How does CI dependency caching work?

Linux x64 jobs include actions/cache and setup-node/setup-python caching without changes to compatible cache steps. Cache storage has no separate charge. Default per-repository limits are 5 GiB on trial and promotional credit and 25 GiB on paid credit; caches expire after 7 idle days. CI runtime consumes workspace credit.

Which Docker workflows are supported?

Docker Engine, Buildx, and Compose are preinstalled. Docker builds, Compose workflows, and GitHub service containers are verified. Validate Docker actions and whole-job containers before migrating. Docker’s explicit --cpus flag failed the documented preflight.

Do Docker layers persist between CI jobs?

No. Each job starts fresh. Use registry caches or portable archives through actions/cache to reuse layers. Direct BuildKit type=gha,version=2 cache export failed the documented preflight.
