Connect your assistant
You need a Celesto account and an assistant that supports remote MCP connections with Streamable HTTP, the connection method used by this server. Your account must have access to cloud computers to create one.1
Add the Celesto server
Open your assistant’s MCP or connector settings and add a remote server with these values:
You can also find Celesto on Smithery and Glama and follow their connection instructions.
Connect from Claude Code
Connect from Claude Code
With Claude Code installed, run this command in your terminal:Start Claude Code and enter
/mcp to select Celesto and complete sign-in.2
Sign in to Celesto
Follow your assistant’s sign-in prompt. Review the requested permissions and approve access to the Celesto organization whose computers you want to use.Tools operate on computers in that organization. Your organization role and granted permissions determine which actions the assistant can take.

Check the connection
Ask your assistant:
The assistant calls
cloud_computer_list and returns computer IDs and states, or an empty list if you have no computers yet. The server exposes ten tools.Use an API key with a client that supports custom headers
Use an API key with a client that supports custom headers
Get a Celesto API key from Settings > Security in the Celesto dashboard. Add an
Authorization header in your client’s secure credential settings with the value Bearer followed by your API key.The server accepts API keys as an alternative to browser sign-in. The key’s permissions and organization determine which computers and actions are available. See Authentication for managing Celesto credentials.Start your first task
Ask the assistant to create a computer and check its tools:coding-agent template includes Python, Node.js, Git, and common build tools. The default scratch template starts with a basic Ubuntu setup.
The create tool returns the computer’s ID in its name field. The assistant uses that ID in later calls. Commands run inside the cloud computer, where you can use administrator access to install tools such as Docker.
To continue the same work later, ask the assistant to start the saved computer and reuse its files. Stop the computer when you want to keep its files for later. Delete it when you are finished with the computer and its files.
Available tools
The server provides these ten tools. In tool arguments, name accepts a computer ID or display name.
idempotency_key is a creation key that makes retries reuse the same computer. Use a new key for each computer and the same key, size, and template when retrying a creation. Keys must contain 1–255 characters and include a non-space character.
Share a running web app
Ask your assistant to start the app inside the computer, then publish its port. For example:0.0.0.0 so the public route can reach it. Application ports range from 1024 to 65535; Celesto system ports are reserved. A returned URL becomes usable when the route is published and the app is ready.
Anyone with the URL can send requests to the app. Add authentication in the app when it serves private data. For details, see Publish ports.
Understand permissions
A scope is permission to perform a group of actions. OAuth connections and scoped API keys use these permissions:
Each tool checks its own scope. Include each permission your workflow needs, along with the required access in your organization.
Troubleshoot a connection or tool call
The assistant cannot connect or asks you to sign in again
The assistant cannot connect or asks you to sign in again
Check that the URL includes
/mcp and the connection type is Streamable HTTP. Complete browser sign-in again if your token has expired. For an API-key connection, check the Authorization header and the key’s organization.A 401 response means the server needs valid credentials. A browser address-bar visit does not perform an MCP connection; use your assistant’s connection settings.A tool reports missing permissions or cannot create a computer
A tool reports missing permissions or cannot create a computer
A
403 response can mean your connection needs another scope or your organization role does not permit the action. Reconnect with the required permissions.Creation also requires a size available on your account and an account that can create computers. Follow the tool’s message to choose a size or review billing in the Celesto dashboard.A command times out or its output is cut short
A command times out or its output is cut short
A command can continue running after an MCP request times out. Check its effects inside the computer before retrying: calling
cloud_computer_exec again runs the command again. Each output stream is limited to 16,384 characters. Check stdout_truncated and stderr_truncated in the result. Save long output to a file inside the computer and read the portions you need with later commands.A computer list or public URL looks incomplete
A computer list or public URL looks incomplete
Computer lists always return
possibly_truncated: true because the server does not count all computers. Increase limit up to 100 or inspect a known computer directly. For public apps, check the route’s state with cloud_computer_port_list and the app’s output with cloud_computer_exec. Stopped computers have suspended routes; route removal can remain unpublishing while it completes. The server asks you to retry later
The server asks you to retry later
The MCP endpoint allows 60 requests per minute per organization. When you receive a
429 response, wait before retrying. For a 503 response, follow the Retry-After header when provided. For a creation retry, reuse the same creation key. For lifecycle and port operations, check the computer or route state before repeating the call.
